Stormstrike landed heavily on the plateau, dust flying in the air. He scanned the area to make sure nothing dangerous had arrived while he was gone, and then sat down by the crater-made lake to wait for Sundance.

Sundance landed lightly on the ground. And waited for the dust to clear so that she could see. She padded over to Stormstrike who was a few strides away from her. She smiled and waited for him to speak, for she did not really know what to say.

"Well, this is my private spot by the lake!" Stormstrike announced. It was a quiet little spot, hidden by small bushes. The Storm Dragon padded off towards a bush and pulled out a hunk of meat. "That's my secret food stash. Here, have some." He pushed it towards Sundance, and went to take a drink from the lake. Water filled his mouth and he scooped it up and swallowed.

Sundance gobbled down the meat, quickly. It was quite tasty. "Thank you!" she exclaimed. She walked over to Stormstrike. "This place sure is nice!" she said, smiling. She bent down to drink some of the clear lake water as well. It was cool and refreshing. She had never tasted such great water before.

"I'm glad you like it here," Stormstrike said, smiling. He was pleased this other wanderer found his living space comfortable. "The lake's purified naturally, so it ought to taste good." He took another large gulp and laid down to bask in the sunlight. The sun was shining straight down on the lake, giving it a peaceful glow. A griffin screeched overhead.

Sundance smiled. She looked around again. Then she flew up in the sky. She flew around the lake, then slowed down, letting her claw drag in the water. The sun shone down on her scales, so that they flashed golden. She hovered over the lake, and gazed at her reflection in the water. She sighed. She was not a particuly pretty dragon. She closed her eyes. Then flapped back over to where Stormstrike sat. "Sorry," she said, "I just needed to stretch my wings for a minute."

"That's alright!" he said. Then, a shadow appeared on the ground, moving. Stormstrike looked up. Overhead, a large griffin flew, scanning the area. Stormstrike flattened himself low onto the ground, folding in his wings. "There'a a griffin!" he hissed quietly to Sundance. "I've seen that one before, and it's really aggresive. Part of its territory includes this place." The griffin was a rusty brown color, matching the color of the plateau. It shrieked, still flying around "Get down! It has attacked me before, but I drove it off."

Sundances shuddered. She could imagine the pain of it's claws digging into her skin. She flattened herself to the ground, trying not to be seen. But her scales were bright gold; she did not blend in very well. She grumbled. Why must she be this colour? It was not at all helpful in her will to survive. She watched the griffen, and hoped that he would not look down.

The griffin flew a few circles, and then let out an ear piercing screech. Stormstrike saw it swoop down and land on a tree. Shoot, he thought. Cán't see it anymore. The griffin blended in well with the bark, and the many branches obstructed his view.
"Careful,"he warned. "Ï can't find it in the trees." He tried to search for a distraction. "Help me chase it away!"

"Okay," Sundance murmurred nervously. "How though? What if we get hurt?" the dragon was feeling nervous of approaching the griffen. Especially when they could not see it. It could be waiting for them; ready to pounce. Sundance did not like this feeling; fear. It made her feel weak and helpless. She snorted. Sundance would not let her emotions get in the way of things. If they were going to chase it away, she would do her best.

"Maybe we can toss that pebble over there somewhere." Stormstrike used his tail to point at a pebble by the lake. "Don't fling it near the tree where the griffen is, though. We don't want to harm it and make it attack. Try to hit that other tree right by it." He then pointed at an oak to the left of the griffen's resting spot. Stormstrike picked up the pebble in his jaws. "Maybe we can use our tails like a catapult."
